Support and Guidance at the ACJ Educational Day Centre

Julisa and Sandra, the two professional El Milagro co-ordinators (social worker and psychologist) are usually present during your volunteering, but also have tasks to fulfil outside of the centre when you will be left alone with the children or other volunteers. Officially they are there to show you around and get started, but from past volunteer experiences they are learning that they have to pay more attention to this. Having your own initiative is needed though as they don't always have much time for you as they are very busy. Also the plans they inform you about can easily change at the last moment, meaning that you have to be flexible. Most of the volunteers help with homework guidance. Carmen and Julia are the two professional teachers who will guide you in this work. If you choose to set up an activity of your own you could be working with one of the other professionals in the areas of (i) health, (ii) education, (iii) productive areas or (iv) civic empowerment. These work with adults, primarily the children's mothers, as well as children.
